New European Privacy Rules

You may have noticed that your email inbox has received numerous privacy notices recently. This is due to the European Union’s new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law. Phoenician Financial Planning, LLC currently has clients who are either retired or planning to retire in the European Union. If you are one of our client’s who fall into that category, or if you’re retirement goals include maintaining a residence in the EU, you should understand what protections this law provides.

In general, the GDPR grants European residents the following rights:
• Consumers have the right to be forgotten
• Consumers have the right to access any personal data collected
• Consumers can accept or deny service consent
• Consumers can grant or deny placement of cookies

Phoenician Financial Planning, LLC has updated our website to allow users to accept or deny cookies. If you are an EU resident, you can request this firm to either provide or deleted personal information that has been collected. Keep in mind, U.S. financial regulations must be followed. The Securities and Exchange Commission and other U.S. financial regulatory organizations require financial firms to maintain complete client records for a minimum of six years.
